Purpose of the Job: The Account Director is responsible for the development and nurturing of key retail accounts. This role strengthens client relationships, identifies growth opportunities, and ensures solutions are developed and delivered on time and against operational and financial targets. You will take full responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the accounts under your responsibility and manage the performance of your team, ensuring all work is completed in line with the SLA. This role requires strong leadership to balance daily support with long-term strategy and translate vision into effective plans. We are seeking someone with expertise in the Retail Fixtures, Fittings and Permanent Point of Sale Materials (POSM) markets and supply chains to help develop clients, nurture relationships and convert opportunities. This position operates on a Hybrid basis between home, a UK HH Global office and client site/office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a leading role in delivering growth and client satisfaction, including client liaison, management of internal resource departments and management of external suppliers
  • Deliver operational excellence
  • With the Senior Account Director, manage the on- and off-site Account Teams that operate in the client’s business under your direction, ensuring compliance with company operating procedures
  • Develop the personal development of team members through appraisals, one-to-one meetings, mentoring and training
  • Take ownership of and resolve issues, quality concerns or corrective actions
  • Develop effective growth strategies and manage opportunities for these clients
  • With the Senior Account Director, build client development plans for each year, achieve growth targets and manage overall financial performance, risk analysis and remedy
  • Identify risks to the account and implement risk management strategies
  • Contract review and renewal
  • Develop strong relationships with senior key decision makers
  • Regular MI reporting and production of account relationship plans

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • Extensive client service management experience, ideally with time spent working on the client site or sites
  • Extensive people management experience including performance management and team leadership
  • Experience managing client service plans, KPIs, budgeting, forecasting and leadership
  • Proven track record of operational management for client services departments
  • Significant experience in developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Able to present account planning and strategy for retention, growth and added value
  • Demonstrable track record of successful client and contract management
  • Ability to anticipate internal and/or external business issues and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Experience managing department financials
  • Knowledge of Performance Improvement philosophy and implementation
  • Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Experience presenting to Senior Management / Board level
  • Strong experience with large P+L budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrable people management skills
  • Passion for quality
