Overview We\'re recruiting on behalf of our client who are a growing accountancy business specialising in the UK construction sector, supporting self-employed contractors and small companies with CIS submissions, tax returns, and company accounts. They are now looking for an Accountancy Assistant to join the team and play a key role in keeping their clients compliant, informed, and supported. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the detail of tax work but values a flexible, modern approach to working. What You\'ll Be Doing
Preparing and submitting CIS returns and self-assessment tax returns for a range of clients. Assisting in the preparation of year-end company accounts and corporation tax returns. Managing and updating client files, ensuring all data is accurate and HMRC-compliant. Supporting client onboarding — collecting and checking ID, UTRs, and registration details. Liaising directly with HMRC on client queries and submissions. Providing general administrative support to the wider team and assisting with client communications.
What You\'ll Need
Proven experience working within an accountancy practice or tax administration role. Working knowledge of CIS, self-assessment, and limited company accounts. Ideally AAT qualified (or working towards AAT Level 3 or higher). Strong IT skills — comfortable using accounting or tax software (Nomisma, Capium, Xero, or similar). High attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage your own workload. Good communication skills — both written and verbal. A proactive, organised mindset — able to work independently in a small but growing team.
