The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
Help pupils manage emotions, regulate behaviour, and engage positively with learning
Assist teachers and behaviour mentors in delivering tailored support and intervention plans
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence through encouragement and structure
Work closely with SENCOs and therapists to ensure pupils’ individual needs are fully supported
Play an active role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

Person Specification

Degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, or a related field (essential)
Previous experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, SEN, or SEMH (desirable but not essential)
Calm, empathetic, and confident when faced with challenging situations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them achieve their potential
