In a time of digital disruption, we support economic growth by ensuring our communications infrastructure meets the country’s needs and enables a wide range of digital services.The purpose and scope of the roleThis is a senior leadership role within the Consumers & Retail Markets team, where you will lead and shape Ofcom’s supervision activities in the telecoms sector, reporting to the Director of Consumers and Retail Markets.You will be responsible for building a new unit, leveraging Group assets, knowledge, and intelligence; embracing new technology and ways of working to deliver world-class supervision in telecoms, and helping make a difference to consumers today and in the future. You will be skilled at external engagement, collaboration, analysis, team leadership, and judgement, with a broad understanding of markets and consumer regulation.You will also contribute to the management of the Consumers & Retail Management wider portfolio and people, working closely with other principals and as part of the senior leadership of the Networks and Communications group.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead supervisory activities with highly developed judgement and collaborative skills.Build and lead a highly effective supervisory team with strong links to enforcement colleagues.Influence thinking across the organisation by building strong relationships to bring a balanced perspective.Advocate the interests of citizens and consumers with external stakeholders, including industry and Government.People management responsibilities, helping colleagues to develop their careers at Ofcom.Promote corporate initiatives that improve how we work as a group and organisation.Act as a role model, demonstrating Ofcom’s values of excellence, collaboration, agility, empowerment and respect.The skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need for successProven experience in consumer policy, telecoms regulation, or digital markets, and/or in a regulatory supervisory function.Scanning Horizons: Strong strategic thinking and programme leadership skills.Harmonising Work: Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and regulatory landscapes.Executing Plans: Ability to form, lead and motivate successful project teams to deliver complex programmes and projects.Articulating Ideas: Excellent communication and influencing capabilities.An appetite for dynamic issues and an ambition to shape Ofcom's supervisory functions.Inclusivity StatementOfcom has a clear mission: to make communications work for everyone.
