What you’ll do
As a Director in the Retail team, you will be responsible for the overall leadership of client engagement, while managing a team of AlixPartners’ individuals below you. Our projects are often short, sharp and focussed on results, so 80/20 will be key in managing to find the right outcome for the client at a fast pace. You will then be expected to lead the implementation and be hands-on with clients to actually drive change.
As a Director you will require both a strong suite of consulting experience and also retail operational knowledge. You can expect to work alongside experienced staff with practical, real-world experience that can swiftly identify opportunities and real issues. You will be conducting complex and high impact work coupled with a tailored approach with rigorous but pragmatic analysis and outstanding program leadership.
What you’ll need
- Master’s degree and / or an MBA, and evidence of a strong academic record.
- A degree in Business, Finance or Engineering is preferable but not essential.
- Extensive and relevant experience preferably with a mix of consulting and industry.
- Expertise in implementing solutions in multiple workstreams of our Retail offering, with either a strong commercial/retail focus (pricing/promotions, range rationalisation, direct sourcing, indirect sourcing, store footprint/labour optimisation, e-commerce channel improvement) or operating model focus (operating model optimisation, change management, cost-out programmes overall)
- Comfort around leading large transformations programmes as well as more tactical due diligences
- Extensive network within the U.K. retail industry
- Deep understanding of business issues and the ability to communicate them effectively to team leaders and clients.
- Willingness to build professional and personal growth by working in high-impact situations under time-pressure.
- True passion for achieving ambitious results.
- Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills along with strong financial literacy and modelling.
- Passion for retail and a contributor to / participant in industry events / conferences.
- Passion to mentor and lead a team of individuals within the Retail team.
- Excellent relationship management with c-suite stakeholders while achieving results.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and executive-level presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of an additional language would be advantageous.
- Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice.
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, and in particular as unique projects/needs arise.
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
