Every purchase and donation helps us provide outstanding end-of-life care and support to local families.We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Retail Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our retail estate. This role is about more than just driving sales — it’s about building a positive, accountable culture where strong leadership thrives, and where every shop team is empowered to achieve its best. You’ll be responsible for maximising income generation across our shops while ensuring high standards, compliance, and customer experience.
ResponsibilitiesLead Retail Operations: Oversee our 29 shops, line managing and working closely with Area Managers and Multi-Site Managers to deliver strong financial performance and operational excellence.Maximise Income Generation: Develop and implement new approaches to grow sales, improve stock flow, and expand e-commerce and digital retail opportunities.Inspire and Develop Leaders: Hold managers accountable for effective leadership, coaching them to foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence.Champion Culture and Values: Create an inclusive, motivated, and high-performing environment where staff and volunteers feel supported and recognised.Strategic Delivery: Act as deputy to the Head of Retail, supporting new shop openings, future growth strategies, and key cross-departmental projects.Performance Management: Use data-driven insights to set KPIs, monitor progress, and deliver consistent improvements across the retail estate.

Hours of workThis is a full-time position. You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week, five days a week, with one day a week from home.You will be based at both our hospice at Winsley and our retail warehouse in Corsham, with travel as needed to our retail stores.
About youHold proven experience in a multi-site retail management role (charity or commercial).Can demonstrate experience delivering against financial and operational targets.Evidence of excellent leadership skills – a motivational leader with experience of line-managing managers and developing high-performing teams.Demonstrates a customer-first attitude, with a record of delivering successful innovation in retail settings.Analytical and financial skills, with proven experience using data to drive decision-making.Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills across stakeholders.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously.Previous experience working within a hospice or non-for-profit organisation.Experience in volunteer management and engagement.Knowledge of / experience in e-commerce.
