Salary: £450 – £525 per week (based on working 5 days)
Start Date: November 2025 (or later in the academic year if preferred)
Contract: Long-term, full-time

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs or additional learning challenges?

GSL Education are working closely with a specialist independent school in Barnsley who are looking for caring, resilient, and passionate individuals to join their growing team.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in helping students overcome challenges and reach their potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Specialised Support – Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs.

  2. Progress Monitoring – Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

  3. Emotional Guidance – Foster a calm, safe, and structured environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

  4. Team Collaboration – Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals for a holistic approach to care.

  5. Promoting Inclusion – Encourage social development and a sense of belonging within the school community.
