Are you a patient, caring, and motivated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the DH8 area, who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a KS1 pupil with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with autism, both in and outside the classroom.

• Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow the child’s EHCP and learning plan.

• Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence in a positive, structured environment.

• Use patience, empathy, and creativity to meet individual learning needs.

About You

• Experience supporting children with autism or additional learning needs (essential).

• A calm, understanding, and nurturing approach to behaviour and communication.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge of autism support strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, or sensory support (advantageous).
