SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Lewisham

Start: Immediate | Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term | Pay: Competitive (via PAYE)

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This full-time, long-term role starts immediately and offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND in mainstream lessons

  • Adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual needs

  • Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement learning and behaviour plans

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

    • Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, or similar)

  • Experience supporting students with SEND (essential)

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach

    • Desirable:

  • SEND-related qualifications or training (., Level 2/3 TA qualification)

  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
