Graduate - Classroom Assistant

A vibrant and supportive primary school in Wigan is looking for a passionate Graduate Classroom Assistant to join their team after October half-term. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a school setting, working alongside experienced teachers and supporting children’s learning and development on a daily basis.

What We’re Looking For:

• A degree in any subject (Education, Psychology, or Child Development preferred but not essential).
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their progress.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Any previous experience working or volunteering with children is an advantage.

About the Role:

• Provide classroom support to the teacher, helping to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to reinforce learning and build pupils’ confidence.
• Assist in preparing teaching materials, setting up activities, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Encourage and motivate pupils to reach their potential through praise and guidance.
• Support children who may need extra help with their learning or social development.
• Contribute to a caring, well-organised, and stimulating classroom atmosphere.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
