The Children and Governors of Carlton J&I School are seeking to appoint energetic and committed individuals who are enthusiastic and whom can work on their own initiative. The successful candidates will have high expectations of all children and will have the ability to work with individuals and groups to raise standards and ensure the children get the best possible education. You will be caring, committed, professional and able to work as part of a team. The position will involve supporting individual pupils and/or small groups of pupils with special educational needs, under the supervision of your class teacher/HLTA, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities. Your day-to-day duties will include:

The overall purpose of the post is to assist pupils in accessing education;

  • Assist with the personal needs of pupils, including positioning, feeding, and toileting;
  • Prepare the classroom and clear up afterwards as directed by the class teacher/HLTA;
  • Assist with behaviour management under the direction of the class teacher and headteacher;
  • Undertake routine clerical tasks, e.g. photocopying of classroom resources etc;
  • Liaise with parents/carers as requested by classroom teacher and/or members of the SLT;
  • Other duties commensurate with your grade and under the direction of your line manager/SLT.
