If so, The Gates Primary School is the place for you. The Governors, staff and children of The Gates Primary School wish to appoint an outstanding Assistant Teacher to join our highly motivated and dedicated school team who can share and utilise their expertise. The post is fixed term from January 2026 and is 3 days per week, 18.5 hours per week.

We are very proud of our school and so are the pupils. Ofsted visited The Gates in September 2023 and judged the school to be Good where: “Everyone at The Gates Primary School is proud to belong to this caring community. Pupils enjoy coming to school. We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Teacher who:

  • Has experience of working within the multi-agency arena
  • Has a good understanding of education and is able to extend young children’s learning committed to promoting high standards of attainment;
  • Has very high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour for learning
  • Loves teaching with an absolute commitment and willingness to continue to learn, reflect and improve
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills and experience to work with children with specific SEN needs and support other pupils
  • Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
  • Has experience of working with children with additional learning needs
  • Is proactive and can work with individual children and small groups, both within and outside the classroom
  • Has excellent English and Maths skills and an NVQ (Level 2) or similar qualification


Essential Qualifications:

  • Holder of an NVQ Level 2, BTEC Level 2 or equivalent in Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
