About the Role
Trusted Talent are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner specialist schools in the Harborne and Stoke areas. This is a temporary role that is long-term, providing stability while offering the potential to move into a permanent position.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with children and young people aged 4–19 with Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, and Sensory Impairments.
You will deliver highly individualised learning programmes designed to build independence, confidence, and real-world readiness. Working closely with teachers and therapists, the SEN Teaching Assistant will help create a nurturing environment supporting academic progress, emotional regulation, and communication development.
This is an exciting opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist School rated “Good” by Ofsted, where small class sizes, therapeutic integration, and a Total Communication approach are central to student success.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex SEN needs as an SEN Teaching Assistant.

Implement individual learning and behaviour plans.
*
Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables.
*
Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers to support holistic development.
*
Develop engaging, sensory-based learning activities to promote confidence and independence.
*
Record and share regular progress updates with colleagues and stakeholders.
Requirements
*
Proven experience working with children or young people with complex SEN.
*
Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders, sensory needs, and communication strategies.
*
Confident using structured teaching and communication methods.
*
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to learning support.
*
Safeguarding training (can be completed through Trusted Talent).
*
Enhanced DBS check (full assistance provided).
