SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Fareham

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a primary school in the Fareham area. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a child, helping them overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive in a supportive classroom environment.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience supporting children with SEN, such as autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language delays, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning and well-being.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with both the pupil and school staff.
• A flexible and adaptable attitude, with the ability to adjust to the child’s needs throughout the day.
• Experience in a school setting is desirable, but not essential.
• Relevant qualifications (such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are beneficial.

About the role:

• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN in a mainstream classroom.
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to support the child’s individual needs.
• Promote the child’s independence, confidence, and engagement in class activities.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure the child’s educational and emotional needs are met.
• Help foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for the child to thrive.
