Financial Controller - Hybrid

A well-established Charity is looking for a qualified Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed term contract, covering a period of maternity. This is a hybrid role, working 3 days per week in the office.
Working closely with the Deputy Director of Finance and the Director of Finance and Operations, you will lead and develop the accounting services, payroll and pensions teams, ensuring preparation of annual statutory accounts for seven legal entities and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
As Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:
Team Leadership and Development Managing and supporting the accounting services team (4 direct reports). Conducting regular appraisals and reviews for high professional standards. Managing Payroll and Pensions: authorise payroll, advise staff, process payroll journals. Compliance and External Reporting Managing the external audit and prepare statutory accounts. Submitting VAT returns, Gift Aid claims, tax and charity reports. Acting as internal Gift Aid and VAT advisor, identify impact areas. Financial Controls Maintaining and reviewing general ledger accuracy. Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and Monthly Review Schedules.
