Teaching Assistant (Psychology Graduate) - Primary School, Wandsworth

Location: Wandsworth, London
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: October 2025 start

Academics are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our friendly primary school in Wandsworth as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about child development, mental health, and education - and who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or child therapy.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, particularly those with SEN or social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.

Implement behaviour management strategies and promote emotional regulation techniques.

Support pupils' social and emotional development, encouraging confidence, independence, and resilience.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to monitor and assess pupil progress.

Person Specification

A degree in Psychology (or a related discipline).

A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development.

Understanding of child development, behaviour, and learning theory.

Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience working with children (in schools, tutoring, volunteering, or youth work) is highly desirable.
