In 2024, we opened a new shop in Harrogate to support animals in need and promote sustainability through second-hand shopping. Funds raised support Blue Cross's mission: aiding sick, injured, and homeless pets, and caring for over 40,000 animals annually through rehoming, veterinary, and education programs.

About the role:

As a Standby Shop Assistant, you will provide essential support to our in-store teams, ensuring the shop runs smoothly. Responsibilities include customer service, stock management, and general shop duties. The shop operates Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 17:00, and you will help maintain high standards of service and presentation. This role offers flexibility and involves working alongside dedicated staff and volunteers.

This is a zero-hours contract with hours varying based on shop needs. The pay rate is £13.69 per hour, including holiday pay, aligned with the National Living Wage of £12.21.

About you:

• Experience in retail environment
• Proficient in cash handling and reconciliation
• Supervisory experience
• Customer-facing skills
• Computer literacy and administrative skills
• Experience managing volunteers (preferred)
