The role

At DeMellier we are redefining modern luxury with timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a commitment to sustainability and giving back. As we look to open our first store and launch our retail presence globally, we are seeking a talented Retail Design Manager to bring our brand vision to life across boutiques, shop-in-shops, and pop-ups worldwide.

The Retail Designer & Project Manager will be responsible for helping the Creative Director translate our brand DNA into captivating retail environments. This role requires a balance of creative design vision aligned to our brand’s aesthetics, strong project management, and technical expertise. You will oversee the concept-to-completion process of store design together with an architect studio, ensuring that every customer touchpoint reflects the aesthetics and values of DeMellier.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative design and execution of all retail environments (flagship stores, boutiques, shop-in-shops, pop-ups, wholesale corners).
  • Translate brand identity into compelling retail experiences that enhance storytelling and drive customer engagement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Merchandising) to align design with business objectives.
  • Manage the full design process: concept development, layouts, materials, mood boards, 3D visuals, technical drawings, and prototyping.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of new store openings, refurbishments, and campaign launches by aligning timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple departments.
  • Source and select finishes, fixtures, furniture, and materials in line with the brand’s sustainability ethos.
  • Project manage construction, liaise with architects, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.
  • Maintain and update design guidelines to ensure consistency across global retail spaces.
  • Responsible for visual merchandising, analysis and optimisation of VM performance by tracking sales impact, customer engagement, and footfall, using insights to continuously refine layouts and displays.
  • Conduct post-opening evaluations to continually refine and improve retail design standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Retail Design, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in retail/store design for high-end fashion or accessories brands
  • Strong portfolio showcasing high-end retail design projects, preferably in fashion or accessories.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (or similar design tools).
  • Solid knowledge of materials, construction methods, and project management processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a strong aesthetic sense and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
