Retail Events & Partnerships Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, energetic, and relationship-driven Retail Events & Activations Manager to lead the planning and execution of our event programming and brand partnerships across all retail locations. This role is responsible for driving engagement, foot traffic, and brand awareness by producing high-impact in-store and offsite events, coordinating with third-party cannabis brands, and cultivating relationships with local businesses and community organizations. This role will work across all markets, directly interfacing with local store teams and helping oversee local marketing committees. This is a role with frequent travel required to each of our retail markets, off site events, and spending considerable amounts of time in the communities in which we operate.
Core Responsibilities:
Event Management & Execution
- Plan, produce, and execute 8 major in-store events annually, ensuring seamless coordination with internal teams and external partners.
- Organize vendor bashes and product-specific activations in collaboration with third-party cannabis brands, working regularly with the purchasing team in all markets.
- Develop and manage in-store event programming such as pop-ups, educational sessions, themed weekends, and customer appreciation days.
- Maintain ownership of the retail event calendar, ensuring it’s updated and visible on the website.
- Regular reporting on each event’s impact on the business including core KPIs, loyalty sign ups, and other business drivers.
Partnerships & Sponsorships
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to coordinate vendor participation, event sponsorships, credit splits on discounts, and promotional support.
- Identify and secure offsite sponsorship opportunities in partnership with local teams (e.g., festivals, community events, wellness expos). Manage budgets. Oversee execution with local teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses for cross-promotional opportunities and community engagement, leveraging local teams.
- Manage incoming partnership inquiries and proactively pitch new collaboration ideas.
- Own loyalty sign up strategy for events, capturing customers off site through direct interaction.
- Leverage Chamber of Commerce relationships to identify opportunities for events, sponsorships, and community engagement.
Marketing Integration & Communication
- Work closely with the Retail Marketing Manager to ensure all event programming aligns with the overall marketing calendar and retail promotional strategies.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure event communications are executed on time, including email, SMS, website updates, and in-store signage.
- Ensure all social media channels are updated with accurate and timely event details, collaborating with the marketing team to post and share content.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in event planning, partnerships, or retail marketing (experience in cannabis or CPG preferred)
- Proven ability to lead multi-location event activations from concept through execution
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities
- Passion for creating memorable customer experiences and building community
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
- Travel up to 50% of the time
