Job Title: School Catering Assistant
Location: Blackburn, BB2
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM (10 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £16.25 per hour

Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and efficient School Catering Assistant to join our lunchtime team. The successful candidate will help prepare and serve healthy, nutritious meals to pupils, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation, serving, and presentation of school meals.

Support the catering team in maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.

Ensure food is served safely and portioned correctly.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with training.

Assist with setting up and clearing away tables, utensils, and dishes.

Adhere to food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen regulations.

Provide a welcoming and positive experience for pupils and staff during lunch service.

Person Specification

Essential:

Friendly, approachable, and enjoys working with children.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.

Awareness of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a school or catering environment.

Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
