SEN Teaching Assistant - (Year 2) Location: Birmingham, B29 Weekly Rate: £460 - £500 per week Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only (8:30am - 3:30pm) Contract: Long-term with potential to become permanent Start Date: ASAP
Long Term Futures are working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Raddlebarn (B29) that is seeking a caring and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist Speech & Language Hub.
This long-term position involves providing support within a Year 2 classroom, focusing on pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), as well as children requiring help with fine motor skills, cognition, and personal care. You'll work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure every child can access learning, develop independence, and thrive both socially and academically.
Role Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SLCN and additional learning needs Assist pupils in developing communication and fine motor skills through structured activities and interventions Support children with aspects of personal care, including toileting and nappy changes where required Adapt learning materials and resources under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo Encourage participation, engagement, and confidence across all learning areas Collaborate with external professionals such as speech and language therapistsCandidate Requirements
Experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly Speech and Language or communication needs Understanding of fine motor and cognitive development strategies Comfortable providing personal care in a professional and respectful manner Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) preferred Calm, patient and dedicated approach with strong communication skills A valid DBS and two satisfactory referencesWhy Work with Long Term Futures?
