SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Birmingham

Contract: Full-Time | Temporary | Ongoing

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

APT Education – a people-first, primary-focused recruitment agency – is proud to be working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools across Birmingham to recruit a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting January 2026 or earlier.

We’re looking for a dedicated individual with a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with a range of additional needs.

About the Role:

* Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEN

* Support children with a range of needs including:

* ADHD, Autism (ASC), MLD, SLD

* Non-verbal communication

* Hearing Impairment

* Behavioural challenges and anger management

* Implement tailored strategies to support learning, communication, and emotional regulation

* Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

* Use or support communication tools such as Makaton (preferred but not essential)

✅ What We’re Looking For:

* Experience working with children with SEN and/or challenging behaviour

* A calm, patient, and resilient approach to support

* Passion for inclusive education and helping every child thrive

* A valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

* Full-time availability from January 2026 or sooner
