Learning Support Assistant – Specialist School, Basingstoke

A specialist school in Basingstoke is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join its team on a part-time or full-time basis. About the Role
The Learning Support Assistant will work under the guidance of class teachers and senior staff to support pupils aged between 2 and 11 years. The children have a wide range of needs, including physical disabilities, medical conditions, developmental delays, and complex learning difficulties.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting individual and small groups of pupils in their learning and development

• Assisting with personal care and mobility where required

• Creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment

• Supporting communication and interaction needs, including use of visual aids and specialist equipment

• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families

Candidate Requirements

• Experience of working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable but not essential

• A caring, patient and resilient approach is essential

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential for this role

Pay & Hours

• £13.75 per hour

• Hours can be discussed and agreed based on availability and school requirements

• Term-time only
