The School & Role:
Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a special school in Halesowen for a SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience working within a specialist setting and is able to implement an autism friendly practice. As a SEN Teaching Assistant within the school, you will be working in a 1:1 role with a year 10 student who has ASD, ODD, ADHD and Visual Impairment. Because of the multiple diagnosis, this role can result in complex challenging behaviours. This is a full-time position as a SEN Teaching Assistant , which will run until the end of the academic year.
The school is an all-age Special School where all our pupils are valued as individuals. Th schools aim is to motivate their pupils to achieve their aspirations and full potential whilst fully supporting their families. Their mission statement is Achieve, Believe and Challenge'. The school caters for pupils with complex needs of ASD, Language and Social Communication as well as Cognition and Learning.

Responsibilities :
As a SEN Teaching Assistant , your role will include:
Work under the direction of the class teacher to support the students learning in line with the national curriculum and individual education plans (IEPs).
Adapt materials and activities to meet the needs and abilities of the student.
Support the student in developing communication, social, emotional, and self-help skills.
Support the student to help regulate emotions and behaviour, using de-escalation techniques where necessary.
Foster a safe, caring, and positive environment for learning.
Requirements :
Level 2/3 TA Qualification or Equivalent - Ideal
Experience Have SEN experience, particularly supporting with Autism.
Empathy & Understanding A nurturing, patient approach
Strong Behavioural Management Calm under pressure, supportive and consistent
Adaptability & Resilience Able to meet varied needs across different schools
Excellent Communication With pupils, staff, and families
