SEND Early Years Support Assistant | Heaton| Nurture Young Minds in a Community-Focused Primary School Setting

A warm, community-focused primary school in Heaton is looking for a dedicated Early Years SEND Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a nursery-aged pupil with Special Educational Needs. You’ll play a vital role in helping them build confidence, develop communication, and take those important first steps towards independence.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing patient, nurturing 1:1 support to a nursery-aged pupil with SEND.

  • Assisting with structured play, sensory activities, and early communication development.

  • Encouraging independence in daily routines, from snack time to tidy-up time.

  • Supporting emotional regulation through calm, consistent interaction.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt activities to the child’s needs.

    • About you:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND is an advantage, but a caring, proactive attitude is essential.

  • Patient, compassionate, and confident in building rapport with young children.

  • Willing to get involved in all aspects of nursery life.

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
