Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £59,000 and London £57,700 to £65,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience).
About The FCA
The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive. The Retail Banking division works alongside an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to help drive FCA objectives and priorities with banks. The teams across the division work on policy and projects, including sector wide themes such as the Cost-of-Living Crisis, Consumer Duty, Access to Cash, Savings Market review, the Provision of Banking Services and more. The Fixed Firm Supervision team supervises one of the largest UK global retail banking groups and one of the fintech mid-tier UK banks.
What will you be doing?
- Engage with the senior management of firms and influence them to deliver better customer outcomes, discussing culture, business model, governance and systems and controls.
- Analyze firms’ business models and strategies, identify key risks of harm, address complex problems and develop solutions.
- Contribute to development, implementation and oversight of supervisory strategies to address risks and recommend supervisory interventions where appropriate.
- Use data to identify trends and insights; support the division’s work and respond to firm issues and industry developments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Directorate, FCA and external partners such as the Prudential Regulation Authority and trade bodies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and identify sector-wide risks and issues.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum
- Experience regulating or working with regulated financial services firms on FCA retail banking priorities (e.g., consumer duty, financial crime, fraud, operational resilience).
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with senior management and stakeholders internally and externally.
- Experience in an analytical role to identify risks and make sound judgements from diverse information.

- Ability to act on initiative to make informed decisions, cut through complexity, identify key issues and escalate appropriately.
- Professional and credible presentation skills, with strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively in teams to deliver outcomes and support colleagues.
