We are looking for Therapeutic Learning Support Assistants to join our supportive team in the Ashington area. This rewarding role focuses on helping children with SEND and SEMH needs to regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage successfully in their learning journey.

You’ll work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels understood, valued, and motivated to learn.

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

What You Need

Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with an Autism diagnosis

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and positive relationships

The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or educational)

A compassionate, proactive attitude and genuine commitment to supporting young people’s wellbeing and learning

Key Responsibilities

Support children’s emotional and learning development within the classroom and wider school environment

Implement personalised strategies that encourage emotional regulation, focus, and positive participation in lessons

Engage pupils in therapeutic and creative activities that boost self-esteem, curiosity, and resilience

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide consistent, tailored support

Track progress and adapt learning approaches to meet each child’s evolving needs

Contribute to pastoral care, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day

Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sharing progress and celebrating successes
