Architect – Project Runner (Retail Sector)

Location: London, EC1 (a short walk from Old Street Station)

Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

A dynamic and expanding architectural practice based in London is seeking a talented, driven, and career-focused Architect to join its team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to take the next step in their professional development by leading high-profile retail projects within a supportive studio environment. The role comes with clear progression opportunities, including a defined pathway to Associate level for the right candidate.

About the Role

The successful candidate will join the practice’s specialist retail team, working under the mentorship and guidance of an experienced Associate Director. The Architect will be entrusted with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, overseeing projects from inception through to completion. They will lead internal teams and coordinate external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard—aligned with both client expectations and the practice’s design ethos.

As a client-facing role, the position requires a confident communicator who is comfortable engaging with stakeholders, presenting design proposals, and managing expectations across all RIBA work stages. The role also involves contributing to the ongoing evolution of studio culture and processes, including mentoring junior team members and promoting technical excellence.
