Retail Store Manager
18 Days Old
Overview
Founded in London, in 2010, Glassworks is a fresh London fashion brand – totally independent, style-obsessed and passionate believers in bricks-and-mortar boutiques as well as streamlined digital shopping. Our design-led stores and website are refreshed weekly with small runs of completely new fashion – meaning a constant feed of exciting new stuff to try on, helped along by the most dedicated and on it staff-turned-stylists on the planet.
THE ROLE The Retail Store Manager will be a highly organised, confident self-starter who will take on the responsibility of managing one Glassworks retail location on a day-to-day basis. You will lead a retail team staffed appropriate to your location and will report into the Retail General Manager. This role is perfect for someone who is driven to succeed in retail management, who is mature, quick-thinking and can handle a range of situations and personalities. No two days are the same and as the company grows, the stores will be regularly improved and performance targets elevated. As you will be responsible for the daily management of the store, you must be able to work and lead independently and will have previous experience that illustrates this strength. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an ambitious person to play a core role in driving a growing company to success.
So what will I be doing every day?
- Managing the people, brand/store environment standards and store operations to achieve daily/weekly/monthly targets and ensuring best-in-class customer service and satisfaction scores;
- Monitoring the store sales targets/KPIs and managing the team and operations to achieve excellent store performance;
- Managing the retail team including regular meetings, personal development plans/appraisals, and commission/contest rewards;
- Planning and distributing the staffing schedule by keeping labour costs within budget;
- Recruiting and delivering new staff training/onboarding process and continued staff training for new information/procedures;
- Overseeing the stock delivery, stock transfer and stock room maintenance processes;
- Developing creative strategies (e.g., new product, VM ideas) to maximise the role of the store within the territory;
- Effectively managing performance and corrective action processes in conjunction with Human Resources.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of retail management experience is essential, preferably in women’s fashion. This position is perfect for a former small boutique manager who loves small teams and personal shopping experiences
- You must be passionate about the Glassworks London brand/products, have clear styling ability and impeccable sales talent, and love communicating with people – customers and team members alike
- A natural ability to identify stand out sales talent, and the drive and maturity to train, develop and manage retail teams
- A detailed understanding of retail KPIs (revenue, ATV, UPT, profit) and a clear track record of success in your previous work experience
- A clear track record of taking ownership of the performance of your store and team including initiatives that you introduced that drove success
- IT skills – you will be comfortable using and learning new technologies. This includes an electric POS system, barcoding software, etc. You will receive training but must be a quick learner in this area and able to sort out basic technology issues independently
