SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Coventry
Location: Coventry Contract: Full-Time | Temporary | Ongoing Start Date: January 2026 (or sooner) Salary: Competitive, based on experience
APT Education is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Coventry to recruit a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting January 2026 or earlier.
This vibrant school is committed to providing high-quality support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and is looking for someone who can bring empathy, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting children with a range of additional needs.
About the Role:
You’ll be supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with a variety of needs including:
* Autism (ASC)
* ADHD
* Speech and language difficulties
* Moderate and severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD)
* Non-verbal communication
* Behavioural challenges and emotional regulation
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual EHCPs
* Assisting with classroom activities, transitions, and sensory needs
* Supporting emotional wellbeing and promoting positive behaviour
* Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
* Using tools such as Makaton (preferred but not essential)
✅ Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children with SEN and/or challenging behaviour
* Calm, patient, and confident in supporting emotional and behavioural needs
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
