TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Longbridge, Birmingham, who are seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with autism and challenging behaviour.
This is a long-term, full-time role starting in January 2026, where you’ll have the chance to build a strong, trusting relationship with one child — helping them flourish both academically and socially in a nurturing environment.

Your Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with autism, helping them to access learning and develop their confidence and independence.
Implement personalised strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement, in line with the school’s inclusive ethos.
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s individual needs and abilities.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to plan, monitor, and review progress.
Create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where the child feels valued and understood.
Maintain clear communication with staff and parents to ensure the child’s needs are being fully supported.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience supporting children with autism and/or challenging behaviour.
Holds a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
Brings a calm, patient, and empathetic approach to their work.
Can confidently use behaviour management strategies and adapt to different situations.
Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Is passionate about helping children reach their full potential in an inclusive setting.
