Overview

Investigating complex or high-risk anti-money laundering alerts on customer accounts. Responsible for recommending Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) to be filed by Monzo Bank EU. Making customer onboarding decisions in high-risk or complex cases. Conducting ongoing due diligence on high-risk customer accounts. Providing financial crime expertise and support to other operational teams across the business.

We’re expanding in the EU and need Senior Investigators to lead the charge!

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex or high-risk anti-money laundering alerts on customer accounts.
  • Recommend Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) to be filed by Monzo Bank EU.
  • Make customer onboarding decisions in high-risk or complex cases.
  • Conduct ongoing due diligence on high-risk customer accounts.
  • Provide financial crime expertise and support to other operational teams across the business.

Qualifications

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal) at CEFR C1 level or higher.
  • Experience conducting high-risk customer screening or complex financial crime investigations.
  • Experience making independent, risk-based financial crime decisions in a regulated financial services firm.
  • Knowledge of the current financial crime landscape in the UK and the EU, and associated financial crime risks.

Role Details

  • Remote in the UK
  • Salary: £29,450 - £37,000 (+ £2,500 Multilingual Premium) with benefits
  • Additional benefits include a £1,000 annual learning budget, home setup support, and access to share options
  • Working hours to be covered by the team: 8:00–18:30 (8.5 hours per day with 1-hour lunch); flexibility required to meet customer demand
  • Start date: Monday 5 January; commitment to the first 8 weeks with no holidays during training
