Senior Financial Crime Investigator, Retail Banking, EU, Fluent Spanish and English

Location: Cardiff, London or Remote (UK). We’re expanding in the EU and need senior investigators to lead the charge.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex or high-risk anti-money laundering alerts on customer accounts.
  • Recommend Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) to be filed by Monzo Bank EU.
  • Make customer onboarding decisions in high-risk or complex cases.
  • Provide financial crime expertise and support to other operational teams across the business.

Qualifications

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal) to at least CEFR C1 level.
  • Strong experience conducting high-risk customer screening or complex financial crime investigations.
  • Experience making independent, risk-based financial crime decisions in a regulated financial services firm.
  • Knowledge of the current financial crime landscape in the UK and the EU, and related financial crime risks.

Working patterns and start date

  • Working hours: 8:00–18:30, based on 8.5 hours per day with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Start date: Monday 5 January. Candidate must be able to commit to the first 8 weeks; no holidays/time off during training.
  • This role is remote based in the UK.
